Lipectomy, better known as abdominoplasty, is a cosmetic surgery that aims to remove sagging skin and fat located in the abdominal area, in order to restore the muscle wall. It should be noted that the person who undergoes this surgical process, should consider new eating and physical habits, since the results are maintained for a short time.
In this sense, lipectomy is mostly applied to people who suffered from overweight or a sudden increase and decrease in their body, in the latter case, we could refer to women who have gone through pregnancy.
If you are one of those people who want to strengthen the abdominal muscle wall through surgery, it is essential that you are aware of the prices in Colombia. Here we refer you to everything concerning the costs involved in a lipectomy.
Lipectomy Price in Colombia
Prices vary significantly by certain factors, mainly by the region where the clinic or aesthetic center is located. These costs are also calculated based on the fees charged by the specialist surgeon, who must be certified by the Colombian Society of Plastic Surgery for the free practice of the profession.
Here is a short list of lipectomy costs in Colombia, according to your location:
- Prices in Aranjuez and Buenos Aires, Medellin: 7,500 million pesos up to 10,600 million pesos.
- Prices in Bello, Mirador and Altos de Niquía: 9,500 to 10 million pesos.
- Prices in Poblado, Medellín: 8 to 11 million pesos.
As you can see, in upper middle-income areas, there is an increase of up to 3,500 million pesos. However, remember that this is a guide that will allow you to have a notion of what you should have in your budget. If you are from a lower strata area, this may be more economical. In any case, always remember to check the reputation of the clinic and the surgeon.
What do these prices include?
In some cases, these fees cover the entire procedure concerning the surgery, from the preoperative to the postoperative phase. However, most clinics have fees that only cover the entire surgical procedure, i.e.: the medical equipment, the operating room, the professional fees of the specialist and the anesthesiologist and the hospital room. Post-operative consultations are usually included in the package.
Now, the separate prices of the previous phase consists of the first consultation with the specialist so that he can study the shape of the abdomen, the distension and fat. This has a value of 30,000 to 80,000 pesos. On the other hand, the preoperative phase also includes the cost of medical examinations, which vary greatly in price according to what the doctor needs to verify.
On the other hand, among other postoperative expenses that are fundamental for a quick recovery, the patient will have to acquire a postoperative girdle that will help to mold the new abdominal figure. This has a value of 80,000 to 120,000 pesos.
Within the lipectomy recovery there will also be massages to catalyze the recovery process. Some creams and medications must also be considered within the whole expense, and have a value of 20,000 to 50,000 pesos.
What factors influence the increase in the cost of lipectomy?
As we mentioned before, the prices are very variable and are defined according to certain factors, such as the category of the surgeon or the reputation of the clinic. Although, what most influences the increase of the abdominal regeneration process is the later phase, since it may require a nurse to help during the first days and this can increase up to 500,000 pesos and 1 million pesos.
The biggest expense is postoperative massages, as each patient requires a different amount. A package of 10 massages can cost between 1 million and 1,500 million pesos. The valuation of the amount of massages needed will be given by the surgeon.
Does the EPS cover a lipectomy?
No. This is a purely aesthetic process and it is the patient who must pay all the expenses. There are no exceptions in cases of post-obesity or post-gestational.
