Breasts, in addition to their biological function of producing milk for breastfeeding, have an aesthetic and sexual importance, so most women want their breasts to meet certain aesthetic standards, such as being firm, at an appropriate height, and of a certain size and shape.
However, as they grow, the years go by, women go through certain stages such as pregnancy and breastfeeding, among other things, the breasts may lose some of the desired characteristics, thus finding sagging breasts, one of the problems that can affect many women and which we will tell you a little in this article.
What are sagging breasts?
Breast ptosis is the name given by doctors to sagging breasts, this is a condition that occurs naturally in women, in which the breasts lose their firmness and rigidity and begin to descend, giving a hanging appearance that is not usually very well seen aesthetically. This is a normal process that happens over the years.
What causes sagging breasts?
Breast sagging occurs due to a loss in the firmness of the tissues that support them, these become flaccid and lose the necessary strength to keep the breasts in the original position, so they fall. This flaccidity can be caused by several factors, such as:
- As we age, it is completely normal and natural that the tissues, not only of the breasts, but of almost the entire body, begin to become flaccid, generating changes in the physical characteristics of people, this same causes sagging breasts in women, due to natural flaccidity of the tissues.
- While many women desire large breasts, the weight of the breasts themselves means that the tissues that support them can no longer support the weight and begin to lose the stiffness that holds them in place, accelerating the natural loss of tissue stiffness, producing undesirable early sagging breasts. However, this does not mean that small breasts cannot sag prematurely.
- Genetics is also an influential factor in breast sagging, as certain people are genetically predisposed to have sagging skin and other tissues that lose their stiffness more quickly.
- When there are strong changes in body weight.
- After pregnancy and breastfeeding, due to weight gain in the breasts, subsequent breast sagging is very common.
