Bichectomy in men

Since a few decades ago it has become normal for women to undergo cosmetic surgery to improve different parts of their body with which they feel dissatisfied, however it is only a few years ago that this type of procedure has become common also in men.

Among these surgeries, one of the most demanded by the male sex is the bichetomy in men, a surgical procedure that allows the elimination of the bags or fat accumulations in the cheeks.

As this procedure allows for a much more defined jawline, it is expected to be in great demand by men, as many celebrities have decided to have it done to achieve a more defined and shaped face.

What does bichetomy consist of?

The bags or clusters of fat that lodge in the cheeks (below the cheekbones) are known as Bichat’s balls, named after the French biologist and anatomist Xavier Bichat.

These accumulations of fat are what give the face a rounded appearance and vary from one person to another, which is why some people have much more angular jaws than others.

The procedure to remove Bichat’s balls is quite simple, so only local anesthesia is applied, then a small incision is made in the mucosa of the mouth where they are extracted.

The procedure for bichetomy in men and women is the same.

When is a bichetomy recommended for men?

The physical characteristics of each person are unique since these are given by the mixture of genes, however there are some that may coincide between one person and another such as hair color, eye color or face shape.

In the case of men, regardless of the shape of the face, this is usually accompanied by an angular jaw that is usually obtained upon reaching adulthood, however, there are times when this does not happen and they still have a jaw with less defined angles that can be perceived as childish.

In these cases in which the cheeks are quite full causing the face to look more rounded and causing insecurities is recommended bichetomy in men as it is a simple and unintrusive procedure but that gives manages to make a big difference.

What are the advantages of bichetomy in men?

Bichetomy in men is a novel procedure that allows to show off a well-defined face, some of the advantages it offers are the following:

  • Low invasive: It is performed through a small incision and local anesthesia is used.
  • Fast procedure: The procedure is quite fast, lasting approximately 30 to 40 minutes.
  • No scars: Because the incision is small and is made inside the buccal mucosa, it does not leave any scars.
  • Rapid recovery: Post-surgical recovery is virtually immediate.
  • Remarkable results: The changes of the operation are noticeable from the first day.
  • Permanent results: Unlike other cosmetic surgeries this one does not need any kind of touch-ups or reaffirmations since the Bichat balls once removed do not grow back.

Myths about bichetomy in men

In the past it was thought that bichetomy was a cosmetic surgery exclusively for women and that men who underwent it would only have an effeminate face, but this is totally false.

Bichetomy in men is one of the most requested procedures today as it allows for a slimmer and squarer jawline which can be almost impossible to achieve without undergoing this surgery.

This procedure helps men who struggle day to day with their self-esteem because they feel they still have a childish face to overcome these problems and feel more self-confident.

However, it is of utmost importance to be sure that you want to perform this procedure since it is irreversible.

Finally, as in any aesthetic procedure, the most important thing about bichetomy in men is to have it performed by a certified specialist and in a clinical center with adequate hygiene and health conditions.
