Bichectomy is a widely performed cosmetic procedure in Colombia and the cost can vary according to location, clinic and specialist. Compared to other cosmetic procedures, it is usually very economical, as it does not require touch-ups.
People who commonly choose bichectomy are young people over 18 years of age or celebrities who want to have a contoured face.
It is very important that you find out about the price and the procedures included, in order to make a good choice. Below we explain all the details regarding the price of bichectomy in Colombia.
What medical procedures are included in the price of bichectomy?
Once a plastic surgery specialist has approved the bichectomy, he or she will let you know which medical procedures are included in the price. Below are the procedures that are commonly included in the bichectomy price.
- First consultation.
- Facial study performed by the plastic surgeon.
- Preoperative blood tests.
- The time you will be in the operating room.
- Anesthesia.
- Recovery and postoperative control until the day you are discharged. This procedure includes nursing staff, medicines, food, among others.
On what factors does the price of bichectomy depend?
At the moment of performing the bichectomy it is very important to know those factors that influence the price of the aesthetic procedure. Although we name some medical procedures that are part of the price of the bichectomy, the ones that really fluctuate the price are the following variables:
Surgeon Specialty
- If the surgeon has a specialty in maxillofacial surgery, otolaryngology or plastic surgery, the price of the bichectomy increases.
- In the event that the cosmetic procedure is performed by a physician or general dentist, the price of bichectomy is reduced.
General anesthesia and biosafety
- If the aesthetic procedure is performed under general anesthesia in a clinic that has all the biosafety and infrastructure conditions, the price may increase.
- If the bichectomy is performed under local anesthesia, the price of the cosmetic procedure may decrease somewhat.
- In case the bichectomy is performed in a clinic that does not have all the biosecurity measures, the price can be even cheaper.
Choice of other treatments
- The price of bichectomy may be higher if the person chooses to have other treatments such as jowl liposuction or cheek augmentation.
Type of extraction
- If the person wishes to have the bichat balls removed externally, the price of the bichectomy may increase. Usually the aesthetic process is performed with an internal incision, being more economical.
Complications and Follow-up
- If optimal results are seen in the postoperative follow-up and the surgeon is attentive to the evolution and knows how to handle any complication that may arise, the price will be higher.
- If the person who is going to perform the bichectomy does not have the knowledge to handle any complications, the aesthetic process will be more economical.
Bichectomy Prices
The bichectomy is characterized for being a very simple surgery, so its cost is not very high. When consulting the price, make sure that the specialist is trained and certified to perform the aesthetic process.
The price of a bichectomy is currently between 2,000,000 to 4,500,000 pesos if it is only a partial removal of the bichat balls. In case it is a complete removal of the bichat balls the price is 5,000,000 pesos.
Some clinics perform bichectomies with local anesthesia at a price of 2,000,000 pesos or 650 dollars. In case you want sedation or general anesthesia, you have to take into account that the price of the aesthetic procedure may increase.
On the other hand, there are clinics that offer free postoperative follow-up of 1 month and provide you with a list of recommendations and tips for a good recovery. Thus, this process would not influence the price of the bichectomy.
Does the EPS cover the cost of a bichectomy?
Generally the EPS does not cover this type of surgical surgery, since it is performed for aesthetic reasons. In the case that the surgery is performed with the purpose of recovering human dignity, the EPS may take it into consideration. In these cases it is recommended to consult with the general practitioner to have an assessment, to know if the EPS can cover the bichectomy or not.
