How do you know if a patient can have a Mastopexy without implants?
To perform it we must first know the degree of breast ptosis (sagging or detached breast) which is what will determine what decision to take for the patient to best meet their expectations.
And these decisions will dictate whether an inverted T-scar or areola work will be performed in the surgical procedure.
Mastopexy indicates these protocols for decision making:
- Grade 1: when the ptosis or drooping of the breast is mild. This is observed when the nipple-areola binomial is located in the groove below the breast.
- Grade 2: when breast sagging or ptosis is moderate, that is, when the nipple has a 1 to 3 cm drop below the mammary sulcus and slightly above the lower perimeter of the breast.
- Grade 3: when the nipple and areola have a descent of 3 cm below the sulcus.
There is also a very mild degree called pseudoptosis when the nipple is in its original location but the nipple on the underside of the breast is above the groove of the breast.
What the patient should know before undergoing a Breast Lift Without Implants:
*If a large amount of excess tissue needs to be removed, the breast dimension will be made smaller and a lipofilling technique (enlargement with the patient’s own fat) will be applied to perform the lift.
*If poor quality skin is found, sagging will reappear because the skin lacks collagen and elasticity and breast ptosis may reoccur.
*When the evaluation shows a ptosis grade 2 and 3, an inverted T scar (from the areola to the furrow below the breast) is generally performed. The patient who does not want this type of scar should understand that the professional advises this type of scar because experience has shown that it is the only way to achieve optimal results.

This type of surgery has yielded excellent results and keeps the patient away from complications that are usually found with the placement of breast implants.
When the nature of our body is affected by the law of gravity, it will not be valid to correct neither changes in diet, nor physical exercise, nor clothing … Then the patient makes the decision of a surgical intervention to improve their aesthetic appearance, but there are countless cases in which they fear a breast implant.
